BLOOD ARMS

In collaboration with Thomas Oats for his "Lost Cels" Zine I created these love letters to 90's Anime (my favourite period in animation!)
These are of course a homage to Guyver, Bubblegum Crisis, Evangellion, Cyber City Oedo 808 and so on.
Trying to mimic the style and to create an authentic looking cel and settei (worksheet) for the characters was a really tough challenge. I gained and ever larger amount of respect for animators and artists from Japan who worked on these incredible productions. Just getting the style to look right was hard enough let alone how much more effort then goes into figuring out how you should break down the colours and shadows in the lineart phase to make a good guide for the colourist to take over.
